OURTOONS would like for every child to see themselves and their family represented.

The Ourtoons Animation Festival celebrates children’s cartoons that showcase music (Original or Public Domain) featuring underrepresented characters.

Characters of all abilities, ethnicities, beliefs and genders. Families composed of same-sex couples, single parents, trans and non-binary parents, etc. There is no limit or requirement. Represent what you’d like children to see, what you think is missing.

Awards & Prizes

First Prize: $500
Second Prize: $250

Rules & Terms

-Animations should be short-form animations of children’s songs, fairy tales, etc. that contain underrepresented characters**
-1920p x 1080p
-Videos can be up to 3 minutes long
-2D and 3D animations accepted
-There is no limit. You may submit as many times as you like.
-All works must be submitted via ourtoons.com or FilmFreeway
-Deadline to enter is 8/30/2022
-Finalists announced 9/7/2022
-Winners announced at midnight on 10/31/2022
-If possible, please include a cartoon drawing of yourself (face/head only, not full body) -To be used for online voting and awards, etc.
-Only finished projects that have never been streamed on any platform before
-Animations are for young children and no depictions of violence, weapons or glamorization of police will be allowed.
-Dialogue must be in English or have subtitles.
-You are responsible for securing the necessary permissions and licenses for audio material that is contained in your work. If your music was not created originally for your content, or if you are using another person’s music, you must obtain the necessary permissions or required licenses (include any necessary release forms with your entry)

Female, BIPOC, Enby, LGBTQ+, neurodiverse, and creators with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Employees of Ourtoons may be exploring films and ideas generated by other outside sources that resemble my submission. I agree to renounce any claim that Ourtoons or its employees misappropriated any ideas or portions of my submission. I acknowledge that this isn’t a solicitation of employment. By entering this competition, entrant accepts full responsibility for securing all rights and permissions to all portions of their work (music, sound effects, voices, etc.)

Submissions are now open for the inaugural “OURTOONS Animation Contest.”
All animators are invited to apply.*

All accepted entries will have the opportunity to have their projects hosted on our YouTube channel where viewer votes will determine the finalists. Judges will then select the winners from the finalists.
Deadline to enter is June 30th 2021
Finalists are to be announced on September 1st 2021
Winners will be announced on Halloween 2021
